Get ready to delve into the future of Ontario's economy!
The Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber of Commerce proudly presents a special breakfast event titled "Building a Better Ontario". Join us on Monday, April 29th from 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the prestigious Station Creek Golf Club.
We are honoured to host Ontario’s Minister of Finance, The Hon. Peter Bethlenfalvy, who will share valuable insights into Ontario’s 2024 Budget, which was released on March 26th. Despite facing global economic uncertainties and high interest rates, Ontario is paving the way toward economic prosperity by building Ontario and working for you – all without raising taxes or fees.
You'll gain first-hand knowledge of the budget's key initiatives, including significant investments in infrastructure, housing, healthcare, and community development. Learn about the planned $1 billion investment in the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, the quadrupling of the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund to $825 million, a $546 million allocation to connect 600,000 people to primary health care, and the launch of a new $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund.
Discover how Ontario is prioritizing affordability for families and businesses, extending temporary cuts to gasoline and diesel tax rates, and investing in skills development and supportive housing initiatives. You’ll hear the Minister talk about how the 2024 Budget is helping to deliver a plan to invest in critical infrastructure, attract better jobs with bigger paycheques, and keep costs down for families and businesses. Learn how these strategic steps are designed to not only tackle today's challenges but also lay a strong foundation for future economic growth.
This event promises a captivating keynote speech and an insightful fireside chat with Minister Bethlenfalvy. It's an unmissable opportunity to understand the government's vision for a stronger, more affordable, and competitive Ontario.
Brought to you in partnership with surrounding chambers of commerce and sponsored by OREA, Trentadue Torres Group RE/MAX All-Stars Realty LTD., Hyson Properties and Borlak Law Office, this event is complimentary for members of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber of Commerce, $50 for non-members, and $25 for members of partnering chambers. A premium hot breakfast is included for all attendees.

The Hon. Peter Bethlenfalvy, currently serving as the Minister of Finance for the Government of Ontario, is a dedicated public servant committed to supporting Ontario's hard-working citizens. Since his election as MPP for Pickering-Uxbridge in 2018, he has held significant roles in Premier Ford’s Cabinet, including President of the Treasury Board and now, Minister of Finance, focusing on ensuring Ontario's long-term fiscal sustainability.
Born to Hungarian immigrants in Montreal, Quebec, Minister Bethlenfalvy holds a bachelor's degree in physiology, an MBA from McGill University, and a Masters in Political Science from the University of Toronto. Prior to his political career, he established an impressive track record in business and finance. He served as Chief Investment Officer and Chief Risk Officer at CST Consultants Inc, Senior Vice-President of Financial Regulation at Manulife Financial, Co-President of DBRS Ltd, and President and COO of TD Securities in New York.
The Minister's financial expertise spurred his decision to enter politics, driven by a vision to restore Ontario’s finances and promote economic prosperity. As Minister of Finance, he is dedicated to providing the necessary support to Ontario families, workers, and businesses, particularly during the pandemic. He is steering the province towards a long-term recovery, ensuring a stronger health care system, communities, and economy.
Minister Bethlenfalvy's innovative approach to governance is evident in his creation of Ontario’s Office of the Comptroller General – the first in any Canadian province. As Chair of the Audit and Accountability Committee and the Future State Modernization Committee, he has shown a commitment to transparency and modernization. His role as the Minister Responsible for Digital and Data Transformation reflects this, leading initiatives to make government services more accessible and convenient for citizens.
